CURRENT Discography CD--

CURRENT from Detroit, Michigan.  One of the greatest emotional hardcore bands of all time!  The singer, Matt, also ran council records, played in a bunch of other punk bands, most notably my favorite, CALVARY.
This here is a crucial band, you should definitely listen to the link, and look for the physical CD, however hard it might be.

CLIKITAT IKATOWI full length from 1995--

This was released on Gravity Records in 1995.  The drummer, Mario R., went on to play with Dan O. (NO FOR AN ANSWER, SPEAK 714 & CARRY NATION) in 411 and then more recently, OFF! (with Keith Morris of the CIRCLE JERKS & BLACK FLAG).
The drums stand out the most on this record, and that's because Mario Rublaca is a bad ass drummer.  Someone said he was in HOT SNAKES, with guys from ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, is that true???

PLUNGER s/t LP (1997 Emotional Hardcore!)

Self titled album from the late 1990s hardcore band, PLUNGER!  I honestly don't even remember this band.  Stumbled across this record on YouTube and I definitely had to share it.  Sounds like a cross between STILL LIFE & RITES OF SPRING with a dash of EMBRACE!!  That's a good thing!

EMPATHY "Under The Lost Smile" // CURRENT "Coliseum" // DRIFT AGAIN 7" ~1990's Hardcore At Its Best

Remember those days. Size XXL FALLING FORWARD shirts, Krishna choker beads, fanzines bound with yarn, vegan brownies, and back packs in the pit...Ahhh, the lost days of original hardcore. Cute hardcore chicks with barretts in their hair, bleach blond bowl cuts (on the guys!), and endless ideas screamed with naive wide eyes! Where is everyone?

WHATEVER IT TAKES "The Great Escape" [Audio Only]

I've never heard of nor heard of these guys, WHATEVER IT TAKES. Stumbled across them on YouTube. I like what I'm hearing so far.
I'll up some more songs in this post shortly. I'm really trying to consolidate posts, as like-with-like. mass//retaliation is getting to "weedy" if you know what I mean. So have a listen & see what you think.

SAMIAM "Don't Break Me'' Live in Philly 9-25-93 [With Lyrics]

"Sitting in the corner

 Don't know what to think

 I can't speak

I sink a little deeper with every drink

 I try to sleep
I shut my eyes

Like a leaky faucet fear floods the room

 The one that drips away

 Patiently by day

It was either lost or it was stolen but
It's been missing for too long

 I woke up one morning

 I couldn't see the sunrise

 I can't recall

The exact moment now

but
It began some time ago

 And it makes me wonder

after all I've done

What have I got to show?

What have I got to show
What have I got to show"

 I'm aggravated
I'm what you created

 Now don't break me"

FRAIL "Make Your Own Noise" // Real Emotional Hardcore aka "Emo"

FRAIL were a fantastic emotion hardcore, aka "emo" band from Pennsylvania, who
were active in the early to mid 90's.  I never got to see them that I recall.
I had three of their 7" records released on: Earthwell Recs, Kidney Room Recs,
and Bloodlink Recs.  Later on, maybe in '99 or so, Scott Beiben of Bloodlink
Records released all of FRAIL's music onto one convenient CD format.
"Make Your Own Noise" is the name of it.
FRAIL play very loose, chaotic, jangly political hardcore.  If you guessed
that they were on the far left of the political spectrum, you'd guess correctly.
Polar opposite of my political beliefs, but a fantastic band nonetheless.
This music is emotionally drenched hardcore punk.  Not the tough guy kind
of hardcore, but the introspective political type.  Well done.  I forgot what the
members went on to do afterwards, but I think one of the dudes played in gothic
influenced post-hardcore band, INK & DAGGER.  They released something on
Initial Records, formerly out of West Bloomfield, MI but relocated to Louisville,
Ky, run by the talented business man Andy Rich.  Initial Recs are the folks who
put on 'Krazy Fest' every summer during the late 90's / early '00's.

RVIVR "Edge of Living" Live with Excellent Sound!!

RVIVR.....fuckin' awesome sing-along, catchy, DIY underground hardcorepunk band!! Someone turned me on to them about five years ago. I loaded their "Derailer" 7" record (ostensibly a record put out to benefit an indie bicycle sales/repair shop...thus the record title "Derailer") on to an old mp3 player but never listened to it. About three months later I was waiting at the bus stop and it was pouring rain, dark as hell, no jacket and of course no umbrella, when my mp3 player automatically played that 7". I was totally shocked at how good they are! This live clip has awesome sound also! Get into it!

"N.Y.H.C. Documentary" A Firm Classic in My Book!--

I love this movie! That kid from DISTRICT 9 is hilarious! It's either all the weed he smokes, or the angel dust he says he tried a few days ago, that's melting his mind! Anyhow, this is a classic. Right below "Another State of Mind" & "Suburbia" but not quite side-by-side with those two CLASSIC classics. You know what I mean. m//r

FRAIL " Live at Atomic Cafe " pt. #1

FRAIL was a hardcore-emo-punk band from the early to mid 1990's. They released a few 7" records and maybe one or two split 7" records. I think they were put out on the Kidney Room Records label, Yuletide Records, and Bloodlink Records. Later on in the late 90's maybe? Bloodlink put all their recorded material onto a convenient CD called, "Make Your Own Noise." They were a great live band, though unfortunately I never got to see them. :( I still listen to them regularly and I am amazed at how great & important hardcore was in the 90's. Here's a cool video from a live show in that era.   Enjoy!

SAMIAM "When We're Together" [Video, Audio Only]

Awesome song from SAMIAM's last album! A great record that took some time to grow on me. It's no "Soar" or "Billy" or even the first "s/t" record, but it's great nonetheless!!! Get into it!!!

CAR VS DRIVER // GUILT // LET THE DAY BEGIN

CAR vs. DRIVER...This band is fucking phenomenal!!!  I always knew they existed but never really paid much attention to them!  They fit in perfectly with so many of the other emotional hardcore bands of the early to mid 90's.  On some songs the singer sounds EXACTLY like the dude from MONSULA!   Anyhow last night I listened to "Under A Silent Sky" and was just completely mesmerized.
Lately my favorite state of being is just laying in bed reading (anything --old fanzines, catalogs, books, the new issue of MRR, and old issues of "Profane Existence"etc) and listening to old albums on my new mp3 player.  Just blown (or re-blown. Is that a word?) away by a few things, like that CAR VS DRIVER album.  I also listened to the GUILT "Synesthesia" record.   Remember, the10" from 1993 or so?  Put out on the late, great Initial Records from Louisville, just like the band.  GUILT was a side project from Duncan, one of the guitar players from ENDPOINT.  Before they were GUILT they were STEPDOWN.  The only recorded STEPDOWN music I have is the song "Giving Tree" from the "Voice Of The Voiceless" animal rights compilation.  Remember that record?  I think Doghouse Records put it out with the help of one or two other labels.  Awesome comp!  Anyhow that STEPDOWN song is great.  Doesn't really sound much like GUILT at all.
OK, so I kinda' found part two of the CAR vs DRIVER discography CD on a mediafire link, but I've yet to find part one.  My hard drive is sooooooo full, I'm having a hard time NOT downloading everything I find lately.  That's why I'm accepting donations for the new 2TB external hard drive on sale over at www.tigerdirect.com.  Help!!!
"Let The Day Begin" by SAMHAIN is such a great song!!!  From the awesome "November Coming Fire" album! It just popped up on my winamp player set to random.  I qued up this bootleg SAMHAIN record that I downloaded a few weeks ago with that song, and I'm disappointed to find out that it's just the regular studio version.  Oh well, I'll delete it since I don't have the hd space anyhow.  Oh, that reminds me --I opened an account with an online storage service, www.adrive.com.  Is this trustworthy?  They give you 50GB's of free storage but I'm a little hesitant to start loading it up if my files could disappear at any time or be held hostage by them trying to get me to upgrade to a premium membership.  I've put a few gig's of stuff on there so far.  I could open a few more accounts, all you need is a different email addy to do that.  I guess theoretically I could open several accounts and store all my stuff on there.  Also, I would be able to access my files from anywhere.  One major drawback, besides not knowing if they're trustworthy, is that it takes sooooooo long to upload stuff to my account!!!  About 1/2 an hour for 1GB!!!!   I don't have the patience to babysit files being uploaded no the trust to do it when I'm not actively using the computer.
So far tonight's been a good on musically: MONSULA (awesome rough pop-punk ala CRIMPSHRINE on Lookout Records), THE ALLIGATORS (Roger Miret with straightedge band INSTED), CALIBAN, (German vegan-edge-metal), THE CARRIER (sounds a LOT like MODERN LIFE IS WAR --and that's a GOOD thing!), COLEMAN (excellent emo), ELEMENTS OF NEED (great 90's emo), SAMIAM (man, these songs from the album "Astray" are rocking my world! This album, and "You Are Freaking Me Out" are two of the most unlistened to albums from SAMIAM in my collection. big mistake!), ROT IN HELL (sounds like RINGWORM but they're from the UK), THE ERGS! (so mad that I've slept on these guys for so long! Not anymore, I'm all up in these bitches!) and so much more!  I'm outta here!   See ya'll tomorrow!  Yeah, tomorrow....a good day!  See my girlfriend, hit up the book shelves at the Salvation Army thrift shop, maybe hit an AA mtg...just not in that order.
